Red Devils see off rivals Spurs in Shanghai

SHANGHAI - After a fiery encounter which saw goals from Anthony Martial and Angel Gomés, Manchester United ultimately powered past Tottenham Hotspur 2-1 in front of a full- house at Shanghai’s Hongkou Football Stadium.
Manchester United were the first to open the scoring in the 21st minute, after a penetrating pass from Andreas Pereira was followed by a skillful finish from Antony Martial. Spurs responded in the 65th minute, when Lucas Mora scored with a long range shot to bring the sides level. In the 80th minute, 18- year-old Gomez squeezed the ball into the net from a tight angle to score the goal for Manchester United that eventually won them the game. The occasion saw some of the football’s biggest stars taking to the field in Shanghai including England international Harry Kane, Tottenham’s new record-breaking signing Tanguy Ndombele, World Cup winner Paul Pogba, and world-class goalkeeper David de Gea.
