ProEvents Bring 'The Blues' to Asia

HONG KONG - Malaysian football fans will get to watch star studded Chelsea 1st team live in action this summer in Kuala Lumpur.

This was announced by Peter Kenyon, Chief Executive of Chelsea, when he revealed details of the match at a press conference in Kuala Lumpur today. The match is currently scheduled for July 29

Also present were Encik Khairy Jamaluddin, Deputy President of FAM, and Mr Min Yongho, Managing Director & CEO (KL) Samsung Electronics Malaysia.

ProEvents Management, the leading football marketing and management consultancy in Asia, has been appointed as the sole and exclusive tour promoter for the Samsung Chelsea Asia Tour 2008.

"We have established an excellent relationship with Chelsea through many commercial partnerships over the years and we are excited with the latest opportunity to work with the club again. This will mark our third tour with Chelsea and we are delighted to bring to Asia one of the top English Premier League teams," said Julian Kam, CEO of ProEvents, who is also a FIFA Match Agent.

Chelsea, one of the big four clubs in the English Premier League, is still aiming at becoming a double champion by winning the Premiership and Champions League this season. "The Club is widely popular throughout the world and especially so in Asia where it has a wide fan base. We are truly excited and I am sure that many football fans, not only those in Malaysia but also those from our neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and even those in Australia will welcome this great opportunity to see "The Blues" in action here," Julian Kam continued.

"We wish Chelsea all the best in the final stages of the EPL and Champions League and hope that the team will come to Asia as Champions of both tournaments," added Julian Kam.

As an official partner of the AFC's Vision Asia Programme, Chelsea is also coming here in support of football development activities.

"This is not just about playing a match in Malaysia. Chelsea will be hosting Malaysia's National Head Coach, Satiananthan R. Bhaskran for a visit to Chelsea" said Peter Kenyon.

"Our coaching Team will welcome the arrival of Malaysia's National Coach. I believe this will be a benefit to both parties, and may pave the way for other such programmes in future between Malaysia and Chelsea. This also underlines Chelsea's commitment to develop football in Asia," added Peter Kenyon.

As part of this visit, Satiananthan will be able to:
- observe and learn the training system of the first team of Chelsea;
- observe the match preparation and also the post-match recovery training;
- observe the youth development setup and training programme;
- understudy the first team coaches and also hold discussions with coaching and backroom staff of various teams.

A comprehensive program will be drawn up to welcome the Club to Kuala Lumpur. Activities to promote the event, together with match details relating to ticket pricing, venues and timing, will be announced in the near future.
