HONG KONG - The FIFA world footballer of the year and the reigning World Cup champions, Ronaldinho and Brazil, arrive today for the 2005 Carlsberg Cup. Brazil will play Hong Kong in a feast of football on the first day of the Lunar New Year, Wednesday, 9 February, at 5:00pm at the Hong Kong Stadium.
The majority of the Brazil team arrived yesterday (7 Feb) including 2002 World Cup winning team members Roberto Carlos, Emerson, Lucio, Ze Roberto and the uprising striker Robinho. Seven more players, including team captain Cafu and Ronaldinho, arrive today.
Mr. Soren Holm Jensen, General Manager of Carlsberg Hong Kong Limited says they are glad to be the title sponsor of the biggest football match in Hong Kong, "It is Carlsberg's mission to provide world-class entertainment and enjoyment to the people of Hong Kong. Hence, we have invited the World Champion, Brazil Team, to come to Hong Kong and compete for this year's Carlsberg Cup."

Hong Kong have just concluded an intensive series of training with several twice daily sessions throughout the run-up to the match. Despite playing the world’s best footballers, Hong Kong Coach Lai Sun-cheung is preparing to play an aggressive style of football. Focusing on physical conditioning and sturdy defence, Hong Kong's top players have set a goal of looking for the counter-attack and even hitting the back of the net.
The occasion of five-time world champions Brazil making their debut in Hong Kong against the resolute national team has the 2005 Carlsberg Cup poised to be one of the most exciting moments in local football history.
The 2005 Carlsberg Cup will kick-off at 5:00pm on the first day of the Lunar New Year (9 Feb.) at the Hong Kong Stadium.
