HONG KONG - F.C. Internazionale have agreed a ground breaking three-year deal with Samart Info Media Co. Ltd. for the launch of a Thai-language version of Inter.it. The deal, brokered by Inter's Asian marketing partner ProEvents Management, is the first of its kind in Thailand, where the demand for Italian football news is massive.
Under the terms of the agreement, Samart will obtain exclusive rights to manage, maintain and promote a Thai-language version of the club’s official web site. The deal also includes licensing rights to produce and sell products such as phone cards and mobile phone covers.
Samart Info Media (SiM) is a wholly owned subsidiary of Samart Corporation Public Company Limited. The parent company employs over two thousand staff and is listed on the Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET). In November 1999, Samart signed a fifteen-year contract with Telephone Organisation of Thailand (TOT) to become the major audiotext provider in the Southeast Asian country.
"It is with great enthusiasm that Inter has engaged in a partnership with Samart Info Media," said Inter-Active managing director Jeff Slack. "We are absolutely sure that having a Thai-language channel on Inter.it will encourage and involve thousands of Inter fans all over Thailand. This agreement is very much in line with our Asian expansion programme."
Samart president Thawatchi Vilailuck echoed Slack's comments, adding, "Italian football is becoming increasingly popular in Thailand. Our aim is to expand the Inter fan base in Thailand. With Samart Info Media channels together with Inter Milan Football Club’s image, we can guarantee the success of this first official web site of an Italian club in Thai language."
