The Lilywhites Are in Town!

MALAYSIA - Tottenham Hotspur arrived for the AIA Cup Kuala Lumpur 2015 against Malaysia XI with a star-studded line-up that includes new-found sensation Harry Kane, goalkeeper Hugo Lloris, midfielders Erik Lamela and Christian Eriksen, to name a few.

Organised by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) and promoted by ProEvents International Sdn Bhd, Tottenham Hotspur will play Coach Dollah Salleh’s Malaysia XI at the Shah Alam Stadium tomorrow (kick-off 8.45pm).

Tottenham Hotspur Chairman, Daniel Levy, said: “We are looking forward to giving our fans here a chance to see the team play up close against some of the best players from Malaysia as a way of thanking them for the great efforts they make to support the team from the other side of the world every week. We hope to meet with many of them throughout our visit.”

“This trip will also enable us to continue our excellent partnership work with AIA, our long-term club partner, which will see our Global Coaching team deliver grassroots football coaching clinics to promote health and wellbeing across the region. We would also like to thank the Football Association of Malaysia, ProEvents, CIMB and Astro for their fantastic support and partnership.”

Coach Dollah has named five foreign players plying their trade in the Malaysian Super League. They are Ali Ashfaq (PDRM), Paulo Rangel (Terengganu), Robert Cornthwaite and Guilherme De Paula (Selangor), and Brazilian defender Thiago Junior Aquino (Perak).

“Playing against EPL teams is not something that comes around very often and I’m confident that Malaysia XI, including our foreign players listed, will play their best as this is a great chance for every team member to shine,” said Dollah. “I am looking forward to an exciting match against Spurs and it will be great with our fans prodding us on.”

Dato’ Hamidin Mohd Amin, General Secretary of FAM, said: “On behalf of FAM it gives me great pleasure in welcoming Tottenham Hotspur to Malaysia for the AIA Cup Kuala Lumpur 2015. We have waited for this match for a long time and I believe there’s a lot that our players can experience and learn before competing in the World Cup qualifiers.”

ProEvents International Managing Director, San Boon Wah, said this will indeed be a historic moment for Tottenham Hotspur fans in Malaysia and for the thousands more who will be travelling from China, Hong Kong, Australia, UK, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand and Cambodia.

“While everyone in Malaysia will have an opportunity to watch Spurs in action at Shah Alam Stadium, we are pleased to confirm that Malaysia will be promoted to millions of people in the world via overseas broadcast of this match including UK & Eire, France, China, Indonesia, Japan, Maldives, Norway, France, USA, Canada and in the Middle East,” said San.
