HONG KONG - Kitchee (Sports Management) Limited announced today that the eagerly anticipated online ticket sales for the biggest football event of the year, “Kitchee vs. Arsenal FC”, will begin on 12th June. In addition, the event has also been selected as one of the celebration events for the 15th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.
The occasion promises to be one of the most popular football events Hong Kong has seen in recent years. Players including Robin van Persie, Lukas Podolski, Tomas Rosicky, Theo Walcott and their teammates are scheduled to take on Kitchee at the Hong Kong Stadium on 29th July 2012.
Mr. Ivan Gazidis, Chief Executive of Arsenal FC, who was in Hong Kong for the launch of public sales of match tickets, said: "I congratulated Kitchee for winning the treble in Hong Kong recently. We are hugely looking forward to the game. I have been told that Kitchee play a technical style of football unlike Arsenal so it will be a good test. Hong Kong is the last match in our 2012 Asia Tour, presented by Emirates, and is an important part of our build up to the forthcoming Premier League season. I am sure that the fans of both Arsenal and Kitchee will enjoy the great atmosphere we expect in the match."
"As part of the Kitchee family, we at Canon are very excited about this great event. The demand of tickets has been enormous. According to the sales figures up until last Friday, a total of 16,112 tickets have been sold during the internal booking phase. That means the number of tickets for public sales starting tomorrow stands at just below 20,000." said Mr. Hisahiro Minokawa, President & CEO of Canon Hongkong Company Limited.
"When Emirates began its partnership with Arsenal back in 2004 it was always our aim to be able to bring the football club closer to its millions of loyal fans across the six continents that we fly to. We are delighted that as the Presenting Partner of the Arsenal 2012 Tour, it will be possible for fans of Arsenal to see their heroes in action right here in Hong Kong," said Edwin Lau, Emirates' Vice President Hong Kong.
"Starting from tomorrow (12th June), tickets will be available at Cityline from 10am onwards or by calling their hotline at 2111-5333. Fans may also purchase tickets in person at Parsons Music." said Mr. Ken K. Ng. "Some of the best seats in each price category have been reserved for public sales, and obviously, it is first-come-first-serve."
A maximum of eight tickets can be bought through each transaction, with prices ranging from HK$280, HK$380, HK$520, HK$680 and HK$880. A limited number of concessionary tickets for Students and Senior Citizens are priced at HK$200. All seats are marked except the HK$280 tickets at the Main Level and the concessionary tickets are unmarked to allow parents and children to sit together. All tickets are subject to a handling fee of HK$5.
"I like to note that the match proceeds after deductions will be donated in its entirety to the Kitchee Foundation for the construction costs of the proposed Kitchee Football Training Centre in Shek Mun. We urge all of the fans to support this event for its value as a mega football event, and at the same time, as a way to take part in the future development of Hong Kong football. As a Legislative Councillor of the Hong Kong SAR, I am especially thrilled to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region with this wonderful football event." said Dr. Samson Tam, Vice-chairman of the Kitchee Foundation Limited.
