Arsenal to visit Indonesia in Summer 2013

INDONESIA - Arsenal Football Club is delighted to announce that the first team squad will play a match in Jakarta, Indonesia during the summer of 2013.

The match will see the Club return to Asia following two highly successful pre-season tours in the region over the past two years. It will be the first time that the Club has visited Indonesia since 1983.

Confirming the trip to Indonesia, Arsenal Chief Executive, Ivan Gazidis, presented Indonesian President, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, with a signed Arsenal shirt at No. 10 Downing Street this afternoon as part of a State Visit to the UK.

Ivan Gazidis said: "Everyone at Arsenal is extremely excited to once again be visiting Asia and travelling to Indonesia for what will be the Club's first visit to the country in thirty years.

We know that Arsenal enjoys fantastic support in Indonesia and we are all looking forward to bringing the Club closer to these loyal fans and learning more about the country’s rich heritage and culture."

The match will be organised and promoted in Indonesia in conjunction with Arsenal's partners RCTI and ProEvents. More details about the fixture and supporters' activities will be announced in due course.

The Indonesia trip will be the Club's third trip to Asia in three years. In July 2011, the Arsenal first team squad visited Hangzhou, China and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, playing a match in each country and also taking part in many activities with supporters in both countries.

In July 2012, the Arsenal first team squad once again visited China, this time playing a match in Beijing’s Bird’s Nest Stadium, and also in Hong Kong. The team also visited Malaysia again, playing a match in Kuala Lumpur’s national stadium. During the tour, a number of activities were organised involving Arsenal players and Asia's passionate supporters.
