HONG KONG - Chelsea Football Club coaches have arrived in Hong Kong to assist with the development of football for young players at the Chelsea Soccer School.
Academy Coaches, Dave Stewart and David Monk, were thrilled to be the first group of the club's coaches to visit the Chelsea Soccer School in Hong Kong and share their coaching philosophies and experience with local players and the Hong Kong soccer school coaches.
Since arriving on Saturday, both coaches have been offering professional football training to children from the age of 5 to 17 year old at the Chelsea Soccer School's groundbreaking Blue Pitch. Students at the schools have been delighted with the unique chance to learn to play football the Chelsea way from the two coaches.
Leslie Santos, Co-Founder and Technical Director of Chelsea Soccer School (Hong Kong), welcomed the two Chelsea Academy Coaches and said "I am pleased to see the soccer school is developing successfully and has received a lot of positive feedback and support from children, parents as well as corporate clients. It has been my wish to offer football training to children in a professional manner and in a safe environment. Chelsea has offered me this valuable opportunity to fulfill my dream and I am thankful for their kind support. Dave and David have been well received by all the children and I am sure they have all benefited from their coaching."
"Following to the visit of academy coaches, we will be sending a total of 40 children from age 8 to 15 to England to attend a week of football training at the Chelsea Football Club in August." Santos added.
"It has always been the club's wish to assist with the development of the grass roots game in Asia. We are pleased that the club has established its first soccer school in Asia right here in Hong Kong." Monk said.
"The students are passionate about football and we are very pleased to see them putting in so much effort and showing the right attitude to learn new skills and techniques. Chelsea Soccer School (Hong Kong) is not just a soccer school offering football training to children but it also serves the community. Mr Santos and the school have been carrying out a lot of charity work since it was established and we can't wait to see this really important work at first hand."
