CHINA - Arsenal fans in China will soon be able to witness the Gunners in action. This was announced during the “Arsenal Asia Tour 2011 – China” Press Conference held today at the Gothe Hotel.
Hangzhou LD Sports Ltd, the appointed local promoter of the Arsenal China Tour 2011, has already started on the preparation work for this keenly anticipated visit by the hugely popular Arsenal team.
Mr Zhu Shagong, General Manager of Hangzhou LD Sports, told reporters that the sanction for Arsenal’s China Tour is currently being processed by Zhejiang FA. Arsenal will arrive in Hangzhou on 14th July and will participate in a series of training sessions as well as commercial activities during their stay. One of the team’s training sessions will be open to the public and further details will be released at a later date. The team will depart for stadium for the match on the afternoon of 16th July.
Arsenal Chief Executive Ivan Gazidis said: “Everyone at Arsenal Football Club is excited to be visiting China. We enjoy huge support in Asia and this will help bring the Club closer to our fans in China. We are delighted to be returning to China. We last visited in 1995 when we played a pre-season friendly match in Beijing. It will be a wonderful experience for the Club and our players, many of whom will be visiting China for the first time.”
The Vice General Manager of Hangzhou Greentown FC, Mr Bao Zhongliang said that Arsenal is a well-known football club in the world, the match against a team of the highest standard like Arsenal will provide an excellent opportunity for the local team to learn and improve the standard of their club especially their youth team training system which China football should learn from Arsenal. Greentown FC wishes that their youth players could have the opportunity to undertake training and study at Arsenal football club. Greentown FC thinks that the youth players training in Arsenal will bring good experience to club’s development.
