Samsung Chelsea Asia Tour 2008 - Malaysia Match Details

MALAYSIA - ProEvents today announced that Samsung Malaysia has confirmed as the Match Title Sponsor of the upcoming Samsung Chelsea Asia Tour 2008 - Malaysia.

ProEvents, the leading football marketing and management consultancy in Asia, is the sole and exclusive tour promoter for the Samsung Chelsea Asia Tour 2008. The Official Match Sponsors include adidas, Astro, MAS and Maxis.

Organised by the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM), Malaysia is the final leg of the Tour for "The Blues", where fans will get to watch the star-studded team play a Malaysian Selection at the Shah Alam Stadium on Tuesday, July 29, 2008. The Tour kicks off in Guangzhou, China on July 23 and then moves on to Macau on July 26.

The announcement was made by Mr Julian Kam, CEO of ProEvents, together with Mr Lee Tae Jik, Managing Director and CEO of Samsung Malaysia Electronics (SME) Sdn Bhd and Dato' Azzudin Ahmad, General Secretary of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) at a press conference today.

"This will mark our third tour with Chelsea and we are delighted to be working with all our sponsors and FAM to bring to Asia one of the top English Premier League teams," said Kam, who is also a FIFA Match Agent. "Chelsea is here not just to play a football match. There will be a comprehensive series of up-close-and-personal activities for the fans to get closer with Chelsea players and officials and these include an autograph session, soccer clinics, charitable events and meeting the Official Chelsea Supporters Club.

"The match will kick off at 8.45pm, and this is a golden opportunity for all football fans to see a top flight Premier league team in action. As this pre-season tour forms an important part of the Team's preparation for the 2008/09 season which begins in August, we welcome Scolari, Chelsea's Team Manager and all are eagerly awaiting his announcement of his first team line-up. All members of Chelsea's first team will be in action. It will be a dream come true for all fans," Kam added.

"As the worldwide official club sponsor of the Chelsea Football Club, Samsung is pleased to have this prestigious team visiting Malaysia. This is a fantastic boost not only for football fans but for the promotion of sports in the country," said Lee.

Dato' Azzudin Ahmad of FAM, who announced details of the match said, "Match tickets have been affordably priced so that more fans can enjoy watching the event". Prices for tickets range from RM33, RM53, RM83, RM103 and limited VIP tickets at RM303. A special allocation has been made for school children as well. "1,000 pcs of RM53 tickets will be sold at a special price of RM23 to allow school-going children the opportunity to catch their idols in action".

Chelsea, one of the big four clubs in the English Premier League, is widely popular throughout the world and especially so in Asia where it has a wide fan base. "We are truly excited and I am sure that many football fans, not only those in Malaysia but also those from our neighbouring countries such as Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and even those in Australia will welcome this great opportunity to see "The Blues" in action here," added Julian Kam.
