ProEvents today announced the kick-off of the Manchester United Asia Tour 2009. The company, Asia’s leading football marketing and management consultancy, is the sole and exclusive tour promoter for the Manchester United Asia Tour 2009.

The announcement was made by Mr Julian Kam, CEO of ProEvents at a press conference today. Also present were David Gill, CEO, Manchester United, and Dato’ Redzuan Tan Sri Sheikh Ahmad, Deputy President of the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM).

Julian Kam said, "First and foremost, I’m sure everyone has heard about the terrible incident in Jakarta. We are deeply sorry to hear about it and our thoughts are with the people in Jakarta."

"We wish the team a warm welcome to Malaysia. We are fortunate to see Manchester United in action with their new signing before the rest of the world, playing their first match after their summer break," added Kam.

Mr Gill said, "To our hosts, the Football Association of Malaysia, the Club owes a great deal of thanks. Without their generosity and hospitality, games like this would not be possible. And my thanks go also the Manchester United family of sponsors, as well as ProEvents for organising the tour."

Dato’ Redzuan said, "This is the first time that the match is being held in the early evening. All other previous matches have been played at night. We want the event to be a great weekend affair, with families and friends coming together to have a good time watching the idols in action."

Manchester United, one of the world’s biggest football clubs, is widely popular throughout the world and especially so in Asia where it has a wide fan base. "We are truly excited and that is why I am sure many football fans, within and outside Malaysia, will welcome this great opportunity to see 'The Red Devils' in action here," added Kam.
