Seoul City, the capital of South Korea, is a sprawling mix of high-rise apartments and modern buildings, interspersed with historical treasures.

The city's primary landmark is the Han River, which runs from east to west and bisects the metropolis. Seoul can be divided into numerous smaller districts, each with their own distinct character.

Jongno-gu, to the north of the river, forms the heart of Seoul and is surrounded by five main tourist districts. Reds wishing to explore the wider city will find several other districts of interest to the south, all of which are easily accessible by the convenient and economical subway system.

United face FC Seoul on 24 July at the Seoul World Cup Stadium in the Mapo-gu district, which has been the K-League club's home since 2004. The stadium has a capacity of 64,000 and was built in 2001 in time for the World Cup the following year.

Ji-sung Park, idolised by millions across South Korea, will be returning to his homeland with the Reds for the second time.

Though most of the winger's colleagues at United have some idea of his popularity in Korea, they were taken aback by the incredible reception he received on the team's last visit two years ago.

Reds chief executive David Gill said: "Ji couldn’t play in 2007 because of his knee injury, but the adulation for him was unbelievable. When the big screen at the FC Seoul match focused on him, the crowd went absolutely wild."
